Urban Gardening for Dummies On Monday, June 24 at 6:30 pm. No space for a garden? Landscape architect Paul Simon and master gardener Charlie Nardozzi will present their techniques as featured in their new book, Urban Gardening for Dummies. Paul Simon is a nationally recognized landscape architect, public artist, and urban designer. Charlie Nardozzi is a well known garden writer, speaker, radio, and television personality, who can be seen and heard locally on In the Garden on WCAX-TV and the Vermont Garden Journal on VPR. Register for Summer Programming Online registration for our Summer Programming and Summer Reading is now open! Each Wednesday, from 4-7 pm, the Market will take place rain or shine, and will feature local farmers, artisans, and food vendors. We'll also have new young entrepeneurs as well. Many weeks, we'll also have music - on June 12, the polka band "Inseldudler" will get us into a dancing mood from 5:30 - 7 pm. Limited parking is available at Burnham Library, with additional parking at Our Lady of Grace next door. Or are you a 5th grade or higher student, who has a spare half-hour per week this summer to help a younger kid keep her or his reading skills sharp? Join the Reading Buddies program! Stop by or call the Youth Services dept. for more info and to sign up by June 18 - the program starts on June 21. Mentors must attend a training program on June 20 at 7 pm. Here is more information on the program (PDF format): Looking for Legos Do you have any spare Lego® pieces? We are planning some fun activities, and need any Legos that you are finished playing with. All shapes and sizes welcome. If you are interested, come to our event on June 19, and let us know if you would like to join our Lego Club (coming in September). Seeking Book Sale/Donation Volunteers The Friends of the Library are seeking help for their upcoming book donations and book sale. The book donations take place on Saturdays (May 25-June 22), from 9 am-12 pm, while the sale is June 28-30. Stop by the library or call 879-7576 to sign up. Book Donations We'll be accepting books for the June book sale on Saturdays, starting on May 25. Each Saturday (May 25-June 22), from 9 am-12 pm, we'll be accepting books at the old Fire House (between Claussen's and Union Memorial School). Drop off your books - we will take hardcover and paperback, as well as DVD's, videotapes, and CD's. Please, no periodicals, encyclopedias, or textbooks. The sale itself will take place on June 28-30.
