MINUTES OF MEETING - March 12, 2003
COLCHESTER TOWN MEETING HALL
1. Call Meeting to Order:
Chairman Romond called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Roll Call:
Members Present: Bill Romond, Steve Kruger, Betty Carvellas, Pat Kearney, Don Sargent, Reenie Peterson
Members Absent: Karen Bates, Moe Germain, John Nichols
3. Approval of Minutes: Mr. Kearney made a motion to approve the minutes of March 5, 2003. Mr. Kruger seconded the motion. The term "shoreline erosion" was changed to "shoreline stability" in order to accurately reflect the discussion which occurred at the March 5 meeting. The motion to approve the March 5th minutes passed.
4. Old Business: Mr. Romond discussed with the committee his telephone conversation with Mr. Etnier regarding our proposed changes to the End Points for the Strategic Water Quality Plan. Mr. Etnier will make these minor changes to the End Point document.
5. New Business: Mr. Kearney suggested that the town might need an employee specifically designated to follow the coordination of the many water quality issues in Colchester. Mr. Romond suggested that the goals of the SWQP will define the needs and that the town will be in the position of determining how best to address those needs. The town will have to decide if these needs are being met at current town staffing levels.
The rough SWQP timeline is as follows:
Preliminary Plan- May 23, 2003
Draft Plan- 1st week of June
Final Plan- Last week of June
Future meeting dates to note in addition to our regularly scheduled meetings are:
Wednesday, March 19- Water Quality discussion of the Route 127 Corridor public meeting series
Wednesday, April 9- Special Water Quality Committee meeting with Colchester Board of Recreation
Wednesday, May 14- Jurij Homziak will attend the Water Quality Committee meeting to discuss the results of the UVM survey sent to lakeshore property owners last summer.
6. Set Next Meeting Date and Meeting Location
The next meeting will take place at the Town Meeting House on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 6:30 p.m.
